I'm not sure whether Lunar New Year means anything in Japan, but it still is a REAL new year here in Korea, hence.
K sama, I think you can shed a light on my current query regarding the change of the recording venue in March, 1973, from Christ Church, Dalem to Philharmonie Saal. Is it that Philharmonic Hall was properly equipped with the recording gears as late as in March, 1973, after 10 years from its inauguration ?? What's the general, and/or your view of the changes of the acoustic, please ?
Listening to Mahler 5 and 6 today (perhaps not a very good way to start a new year !), I suddenly got curious on why the significant change of the acoustic and the staging, and belatedly found out that they were recorded in different locations, which I now found out...
I thought Dresdener's recording at Lucas Kirch and Semper Oper interesting, but haven't thought of the Berliners !!
